Hei!

My name is Ka Pui and I’m guide at the Finland pavilion Kirnu for Shanghai World Expo 2010. Here at Kirnu I’ve been given once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to promote the Finnish know-how and way of life.

I was born in Hong Kong, but moved to Finland at young age. Despite living in Finland for a long time, I’ve maintained active contact to my birth place and visited it often. This has given me a rare perspective to both Finnish and Chinese culture, which has helped a lot in my work as a guide. Understanding the mindset of both the Finnish hosts and various guests has allowed me to better deliver the Finnish experience as intended by Kirnu. It allows me to let our guests truly experience Finland and being Finnish.

I’m Bachelor of Business Administration and currently studying another degree in Tourism Management. My intention is to gain comprehensive knowledge of international business with strong focus on tourism business. To achieve that goal, I’ve taken Chinese business studies in Hong Kong, as well as special courses in aviation management in Germany. Additionally, I’ve been working as a freelance interpreter and have completed the first phase of official interpreter studies. Apart from Cantonese, I’m skilled in Finnish, English and Mandarin Chinese.

My work at Finland pavilion - as well as customer service work at Helsinki Airport - has provided the much needed practical aspect of my goal to becoming a professional. Work in Kirnu has been intensive and hectic at the best of times. Dealing with literally millions of visitors and VIPs requires above all high level of mental preparedness and discipline. I’ve been able to improve myself a great deal both professionally and mentally during my time in Shanghai.

I place great importance on doing my work beyond of what is expected of me. As a highly social person, I like making new friends. This makes connecting with both internal and external interest groups come rather easily to me. Networking with people in different organisations has many benefits for everyone involved - it’s what makes the difference between good and excellent results.

If you’re interested in skillful, multicultural employee with an edge, send me an email. My contact information can be found below.
